Books

You have probably seen the unfolding drama in the press about google deciding to publish thousands of 'out of press' books without really any consent or negotiation of royalties with the authors and publishers. Not quite sure how I feel about the moralistic side of this yet, possibly a bit scared of being a hypocrite when the music industry has been so ravaged by file sharing..

ANYWAY, I discovered there is half of my audio & recording book collection on there. So I thought was worth sticking a few links up. It's interesting to observe that not one of the books I've got on the music business are available on google..figures I guess :)

Mastering Audio (B. Katz)

This book is an absolute Gem, Bob Katz is one of the most respected mastering engineers in the world and this book explains in really simple and understandable terms loads of useful insight and techniques which I've found really useful.

Modern Recording Techniques (Huber & Runstein)

This book was my main point of reference years ago when I was at college, its got loads of useful stuff about the science and techniques.

Handbook for Sound Engineers (Ballou)

Very good technical reference book for audio basics, a little more scientific than the Huber and Runstein.

The Recording Engineer's Handbook (B. Owsinski)

I've not actually read this book, but I own Bobby Owsinski's other book 'The Mixing Engineers Handbook' which was a great introduction to the basics of mixing in easy to understand lingo..
